Nickel-Plated copper bus-wires provide the electrical supply to a semi-conductive polymer matrix whose electrical resistance varies with temperature. When the temperature of the matrix fails, the power output, (and hence the heat output) increases. When the matrix temperature rises, the power output fails. Self regulating cable is designed for cutting to length in the field.

Must be used in conjuction with a suitable controller for maximum safety and economy.
